The Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation will host the Rs. 25 lakh ‘The Seed Gun for Glory’ shooting championship at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi (Pune) from September 12 to 18.
Narang’s initiative will be supported by the National Rifle Association of India, Maharashtra Rifle Association, and the Department of Sport, Government of Maharashtra.
SEED Infotech will be the title sponsor of the National-level tournament that will be inaugurated by London Games bronze medal winner Mary Kom. In fact, Gagan Narang, Mary and Vijay Kumar, silver medallist at the London Games, will feature in the opening ceremony.
The tournament will feature Samaresh Jung, Rahi Sarnobat, Vijay Kumar, Heena Siddhu and Annu Raj Singh in the pistol events and Anjali Bhagwat, Mumpi Das, Suma Shirur, Ayonika Paul and Tejaswini Mulay in the air rifle category. For the first time the shotgun event will be introduced in the State.
The tournament is being supported by Amanora, Chevrolet, Yes Bank, Sanjay Kakade Group, Oakley, Capapie, Holiday Inn, Balewadi, TK, Sixth Element, Sancheti, Travel Time, Pashankar Publications and Media, Radio One, Walther and ELEY.
