Saina, Chetan advance in Malaysia Super Series

Ace shuttlers Saina Nehwal and Chetan Anand notched up straight-game victories to reach the pre-quarterfinals of the season-opening Malaysia Open Super Series in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

World number eight Saina brushed aside local player Li Lian Yang 21-10, 21-12 in just 27 minutes, while national champion Chetan defeated another Malaysian Kwong Beng Chan 21-19, 21-16 in half an hour.

Saina will next take on Japanese Ai Goto, who beat qualifier Jing Yi Tee of Malaysia 21-19 21-16 in another women singles match.

Chetan will face off with the winner between Malaysian Wei Feng Chong and French Brice Leverdez in one of the the pre-quarters on Thursday at the Putra Stadium.
