Top-seeded Grandmaster Sahaj Grover produced a strong finish to win the 2018 Broadwalk Pearson Open chess tournament here on Sunday.

In the ninth and final round of this 10-player round-robin event, the 22-year-old defeated Malawi’s Joseph Mwale in 63 moves to aggregate 7.5 points. Daniel Cawdrey of South Africa finished second with 6.5.

After two draws, Grover won six out of the remaining seven rounds, including the last four.
