Rohit is 2013 Player of the Year

K.R. Rohit was adjudged the Player of the Year for 2013 at the Tamil Nadu Table Tennis Association annual awards ceremony held here on Sunday.

Rohit was the silver medallist at the Youth National Open Singles event and represented India in the Slovakia Junior Open, winning a silver medal each in doubles and team events.

The Player of the Year award for 2012 to V. Nitin Thiruvengadam was also given away on the occasion.

Also, S. Yashini and S. Selena Deepthi, sub-junior girls doubles champions at the Cadet & Sub-Junior Nationals held in December last year, the lone gold medallists from the state, were felicitated.

In addition, 23 others who bagged bronze and silver medals at the Cadet & Sub-Junior Nationals and Junior & Youth Nationals were also handed awards of appreciation.

Other awards: Toppers list for 2013: Men: Sushmit Sriram (MVM) & E. Prabakaran (SRSA); Women: Amrutha Pushpak (Indian Bank).

Boys: Youth: Sushmit Sriram; Juniors: S. Nikhil (CTTF); Sub-juniors: Nikhil Nanda (Krishnagiri); Cadets: Sankeet Mahipal (KTTC); Mini cadets: D. Viswa (KTTC).

Girls: Youth: S. Narasimha Priya (LTTA); Juniors: Amrutha Pushpak; Sub-juniors: S. Yashini (MVM); Cadets: Sharmitha (MT VLR); Mini cadets: Kavyashree (CH. Tambaram).
