“I won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Championships and I managed to get one here. But since I'm the first female gold medallist from India [in wrestling] at the Commonwealth Games, it is special to me,” said Geeta here on Thursday.
“This gold is the result of two years of training,” she added.
Weak defence
On the bout, Geeta said, “I observed her in the period and soon I discovered that her defence was pretty weak and I decided to attack her.”
She revealed she had a ‘winning' diet of, “two chapattis, paneer and vegetables with a glass of juice for breakfast. Maybe this provided me with the energy to win the gold.”
Training for Asiad
Looking ahead, Geeta said, “I will continue my training for the [2010] Asian Games [in Guangzhou]. I will not stop just because I won this gold.”
Geeta was hopeful of more glory for India in the men's section.
“Not only Sushil Kumar [in the 66kg freestyle] but all the other Indian wrestlers are expected to win gold.”
