Restricted events at Asian Games

The ability of the Indian shooters to overcome the odds will be put to a severe test during the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, in August.

Apart from dropping all the team competition, the Asian Games organisers have also done away with most of the non-Olympic events.

Thus, except for double trap for men and women apart from men’s 300-metre standard rifle 3-position events, the rest will be the ones that will feature in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

Even though the mixed events come into play, a country will be allowed to enter only two shooters per event.

The men’s competition will feature, air rifle, 50-metre rifle 3-position, 25-metre rapid fire pistol, air pistol, trap, skeet and double trap events apart from the 300-metre big bore.

The women’s events will be rifle 3-position, air rifle, 25-metre sports pistol, air pistol, trap, skeet and double trap.

There will be mixed events in air rifle, air pistol and trap.

There have only been a handful of Indian shooters who have won individual gold medals in the Asian Games.
