Olympic silver medallist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore equalled the world record 148 out of 150 in double trap on his way to the gold in the Asian shotgun championship in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
After an impressive series of 50, 48 and 50, Rathore shot 46 in the final to walk away with the gold. Vitali Fokeev of Russia had shot the new world record, after 147 had stayed on for many years, in the World Cup in Chile in March this year.
With Yoginderpal and Mohammed Asab shooting 133 and 131 respectively, the Indian team finished with the bronze.
Earlier, in trap, Mansher Singh shot the gold with a total of 142. He had followed 120 in qualification with a 22 in the final. Former world champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu had also shot 120, but missed a medal with a 19 in the final.
Du Yu of China pipped Khaled Almudhaf of Kuwait 2-1 in the shoot-off after the two had tied at 140. Anwer Sultan could muster only 108 and thus the team was reduced to the silver, seven points behind China.
