Raj Chaudhary surprised a mixed field by winning the women’s air rifle gold in the 14th Kumar Surendra Singh shooting championship at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, on Saturday.
In a gripping climax, Raj virtually broke the resilience of Kiranjit Kaur with shots of 10.8 and 10.8, that gave her a 0.9 point lead before the last two shots. She wound up nicely with shots of 10.3 and 10.4 even as Kiranjit came up with 10.6 and 10.4 to bridge the gap to 0.6 point.
