Dabang Delhi’s one-man army, Kashiling Adake (15 points), demolished a lacklustre Puneri Paltan 45-22 in the ProKabaddi League at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium here on Monday.
Adake, who took the majority of the raids, wrecked havoc on the Paltan defence.
His slick sideways movement and early anticipation of holds made him a perennially elusive threat. With another capable raider in Surjeet Narwal — who filled in when Adake needed a breather — Delhi had all bases covered.
The result was sealed early in the match, as Delhi raced to a 9-0 lead. Adake had taken out the antis at will, and when Mangesh Bhagat’s foray was pinned to the ground by the Delhi defenders, the referee signalled a lona.
The entire Paltan team had exited without scoring a single point. Things did not get any better for the Paltans, slumping to a 10-20 deficit at half-time. Adake carried his form into the second essay as well, before easing off in the final minutes. Dong Ju Hong (South Korea) and Takamitsu Kono (Japan) were allowed to test the waters, and the duo added to Paltans’ woes with successful raids.
The results: Dabang Delhi 45 (Kashiling Adake 15, Surjeet Narwal 4) bt Puneri Paltan 22 (Wazir Singh 10, Jitesh Joshi 5); Best raider: Kashiling Adake (Delhi); Best defender: T. Shrikanth (Delhi).
On Sunday: Bengaluru Bulls 37 (Ajay Thakur 6, Manjit Chillar 4) bt Bengal Warriors 24 (Mahesh Goud 4, Mahendra Ganesh 4); Best raider: Ajay Thakur (Bulls); Best defender: Manjit Chillar (Bulls).
