Priyanka, Aravind triumph

In a fitting finale, top seeds Tamil Nadu’s Ram Aravind and Andhra Pradesh’s N. Priyanka signed off with resounding victories in the final round of the National under-11 chess championship here on Tuesday.

Aravind scored over Goa’s M. Barath to tally 10 points in the open section while Priyanka did the same in the girls’ category after stopping Tamil Nadu’s C. Lakshmi.

With nine victories and two draws, Aravind remained unbeaten in the 11-round championship. Rahul Srivatshav (AP) and Saurabh Anand (Bihar) followed in that order after being part of a four-way tie at 8.5 points.

Among the girls, Delhi’s Vantika Agrawal came second with nine points.
