Praneeth in Japan Open main draw

India’s Sai Praneeth qualified for the men’s singles main draw of the Japan Open Super Series badminton after notching up contrasting victories in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Praneeth defeated Andrew Smith of England 21-15, 18-21, 21-19 in the first qualifying match and then saw off local player Riichi Takeshita 21-14, 21-15 to enter the main draw, where he will play Daren Liew of Malaysia. He had failed to make it to the main draw of the Li Ning China Masters last week.
