Prakash Nanjappa wins silver at Asian air gun championship

Prakash Nanjappa won the silver in men’s 50m free pistol in the 6th Asian air gun championship in Tehran, Iran.

The 37-year-old missed the gold by 0.3 point to Mai Jiajie of China.

The Indian team, with Jitu Rai and Om Prakash as the other members, won the silver behind China.

World Cup silver medallist Lajja Gauswami won the women’s rifle prone silver with a score of 594, while the team won the bronze.

Gauri won the junior bronze in sport pistol, and together with Shreya Gawande and Oshin Tawani won the team gold ahead of China.

In women’s 25-metre sport pistol, Anisa Sayyed topped the qualifiers with a score of 582 but eventually finished fifth, while World Cup gold medallist Rahi Sarnobat ended up eighth. The team with Surabhi Pathak as the third member won the silver.
