Olympic medallists felicitated

Olympic silver medallists, wrestler Sushil Kumar and shooter Vijay Kumar, were presented pure gold medals weighing three kilogrammes each by Sahara at a felicitation here on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav presented the medals. The four bronze medallists of the London Games, badminton ace Saina Nehwal, boxer Mary Kom, shooter Gagan Narang and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, were presented medals made of two kilogrammes of gold each.

The Sahara group was honouring its promise of presenting gold to the Olympic medallists to the tune of five, three and two kilograms each for gold, silver and bronze medals.

The Chief Minister congratulated the medallists and lauded Sahara for honouring them in a fitting fashion.

The Chairman of Sahara, Subrata Roy, announced that the organisation would set up an international class sports centre at the Aamby Valley City, to ensure a better haul of medals in the next Olympics. There was a cultural programme as part of the felicitation ceremony.
