The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Chairman John Fahey on Thursday made it clear that there would not be any exception to any signatory of the WADA code.
Mr. Fahey, who addressed a press conference in Montreal, said WADA would not make any exception to any sport.
“The International Cricket Council (ICC) is a signatory of the WADA code and there is no exception to any signatory, be it football or cricket,” Mr. Fahey said on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian cricketers’ refusal to accept the ‘whereabouts’ rule.

Mr. Fahey said WADA has written to the Indian Government on this issue.
“We have taken up this issue with the Indian Government. We have sought the official view on that matter and we are waiting for a response,” he said.
The WADA chief hoped that the issue would be sorted out during the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in South Africa where he would discuss the matter with ICC.
Mr. Fahey said the opposition to the ‘whereabouts’ clause is “disappointing” and India should understand the harmonisation in cricket.
The WADA chief said “the element of surprise” in the ‘whereabouts’ clause is essential for out of competition tests. He assured that the whereabouts system is a “very secure one.”
