The 29th youth under-16 National basketball championship for boys and girls will be played at the Emerald Heights International School, Rau A.B. Road, Indore, from October 6 to 13.

Delhi boys and Kerala girls had won the title in the last edition held in Nagpur.

The tournament will feature 24 teams each in boys’ and girls’ sections.

The Basketball Federation of India, which will conduct the championship in collaboration with Madhya Pradesh Basketball Association, will select 25 boys and 25 girls from the championship, for a national coaching camp. The players will also get ‘productivity-linked incentive benefits’, and will be considered for selection for international competition.

There will also be a clinic by the NBA India Director of Basketball Operations, Troy Justice, and the national strength and conditioning coach Zak Penwell, on October 12, as part of the ‘train the trainers’ programme.
