National Games: Rajat shoots gold

Rajasthan’s Rajat Chauhan beat Delhi’s Abhishek Verma in a thriller for the men’s individual compound title of the 35th National Games promised here on Sunday.

Rajat turned the final sharply in his favour after gaining a two-point lead with the next set of three arrows at the Nehru Stadium.

The results:

Compound round: Individual: Men: Final: Rajat Chauhan (Raj) bt Abhishek Verma (Del) 145-142. Bronze: Isaiah R. Sanam (Tel).

Women: Final: Purvasha Sudhir Shinde (AP) bt Sorang Yumi (Aru) 144-141.

Bronze: Trisha Deb (Pun) 138.

Team events: Men: Punjab (Kawalpreet Singh, Vikas Rajan, Lovejot Singh, Ankus Sharma) bt Rajasthan 229-229 (tiebreaker 29-27).

Bronze: Telangana.

Women: Arunachal Pradesh (Sorang Yumi, Genung Tekseng, Maselo Mihu, Netan Drema Khrimey) bt Punjab 226-223.

Bronze: Andhra Pradesh.

Mixed team: Rajasthan (Rajat Chauhan & Swati Dudhwal) bt Punjab (Kawalpreet Singh & Ramandeep Kaur) 146-145.
