National Games: Meena Kumari moves up

Favourite Meena Kumari Devi of Kerala moved into the semifinals of the light weight category in the boxing competitions defeating Sunitha Yadav of Goa 17-10. Geeta Solanki of Delhi also moved into the last four from the same category as she outclassed Anjima Khakhalary of Arunachal Pradesh.

In the men’s section, Kerala’s Vijay Kumar in light welter category and Rambol in heavy category assured themselves of a medal by entering the last four.

The results (quarterfinals):

Men:  Light fly: Shyam Kumar (AP) bt Nanao Singh (Ser) 18-6; Pradeep Sharma (J&K) bt Nithinraj (Ker) 17-7.
