Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg dominated the final practice on Saturday for the Bahrain Formula Grand Prix in another show of Mercedes power.

Hamilton topped the timesheets in 1 minute 35.324 seconds for the 5.412-kilometre lap and, having also finished first ahead of Rosberg in both sessions on Friday, seems poised to maintain his 100 per cent pole position record for the season later Saturday.

Championship leader Rosberg clocked 1:35.439 and Force India’s Sergio Perez was third in 1:35.868.

The practice session of world champion Sebastian Vettel ended little over 20 minutes before the end when his Red Bull spun and the engine stalled.

Mercedes have ruled F1 early in the season. Rosberg won the opener in Australia and was second behind Hamilton in Malaysia to lead the standings with 43 points to Hamilton’s 25. Vettel is seventh on 15 points.
