Chandrakant Mali added another gold to the Services Sports Control Board's burgeoning kitty in the National weightlifting championships with a fine performance in the men's 94kg event here on Saturday.

The 23-year-old from Kolhapur lifted a total of 315kg (141, 174) to finish ahead of Kerala's M. Syamlal (140, 172, 312) and Jharkhand's Manjit Singh (145, 160, 305).

Although National Games gold-medallist Manjit led Mali 145-141 after snatch, the former was relegated to third place after a relatively poor outing in clean and jerk.

Mali's 174 handed him a win by 3kg over Syamlal.

Mali, a gold-medallist from the National Games, but in the 85kg event, moved up a class here to clear the way for teammate L.B. Singh, thus delivering Services two golds in place of one.

A. Janeshwori Devi of Bihar romped home in the women's 75kg with a total lift of 190 (86, 104).

Behind her were Manipur's K. Pramila Devi (80, 102, 182) and Punjab's Pardeep Kaur (70, 91, 161).
