LIC sports events from today

Life Insurance Corporation’s South Central Zonal badminton and table tennis tournaments will be held at Dandamudi Rajagopala Rao indoor stadium on August 17 and 18 in which 66 players from 17 divisions of three southern States – Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka - will take part , according to LIC Machilipatnam Divisional Marketing Manager D.R.K.R.M. Siva Ram here on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media persons, he said players and teams, winning the finals, will be qualified for the forthcoming all India events. “Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh Managing Director N. Bangara Raju will be the chief guest and SAAP officer-on-special duty P. Ramakrishna and LIC Regional Manager K.V.P.V. Narasimham will guests of honour,” he added.

He said the corporation was staging sports meets every year for the employees from the branch–level to all India-level and many employees’ have brought name and fame to their corporation with their in-court exploits.

The valedictory of the event will be held in August 18 at 5.30 p.m. in which District Sports Development Officer B. Srinivas Rao will be the chief guest.

The event, organised by LIC Machilipatnam Division, will be conducted with the help of the technical officials of Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association and Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association.

LIC managers L. Taraka Ram, B.S. Chakravarthy took part in the meeting.
