Sharif Khan of AYN won the championship in the Radial rig in the Laser National sailing championship at the Hussainsagar lake here on Friday. The 30-year-old emerged overall winner with a tally of 20 penalty points followed by Dileep Kumar of EMSA with 27 and K.K. Pandey of AYN with 31 penalty points respectively.

His talent was further honed when he underwent a coaching stint with Polish sailing coach Marek Nostitz Jackowski in Hong Kong and his performance in this regatta has again underlined his potential.

The winds were moderate and consistent throughout the day which made it a good day for the sailors. There were some protests including a few by the jury and these will be heard later tonight.
