Kynan Chenai misses final by three points

Kynan Chenai shot 116 and finished 21st in a field of 98 in trap in the shotgun World Cup that concluded in Beijing on Wednesday. He was three points away from making the final.

The young Chenai had shot a series of 23, 22, 23, 24 and 24, to provide the best score among the Indians after World champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu had pulled out with a leg injury.

Giovanni Cernogoraz of Croatia beat the Athens Olympics champion Alexey Alipov by one point for the gold, after the Russian had led by two points ahead of him after the qualification, and took the Olympic quota as well for the London 2012 Games.

The second quota place went to Jiri Gach of the Czech Republic.
