Akhil Khuslani made the best use of his rich experience to come out on top in the opening race of the JK Racing India Series in the first round of the JK Tyre Racing Championship in Chettipalayam here on Saturday.
In the Formula LGB4 class opener, Ajay Kini and veteran star Sarosh Hataria exchanged their lead positions time and again but towards the closing stages, Kini’s car kissed Hataria a bit in a crucial corner forcing him to veer off.
It proved costly. Despite crossing the chequered flag, Kini finished sixth due to a 10-second penalty imposed on him for the incident.
Vishnu Prasad, who cashed in on the opportunity and finished second, was also disqualified later due to an underweight car.
With the top two knocked off the pedestal, Saran Vikram and Kartik Krishna gained the first two places, followed by Tejas Ram Averipakam.
