On Tuesday (March 3) Kayak expert Kaustubh Khade completed a 500 km solo-kayaking adventure from Mumbai to Goa in 18 days and entered the Limca Book of Records for paddling the long distance in a very short time. An alumnus of the Delhi IIT, Khade set upon the Arabian sea challenge to raise money for NGO, Magic Bus, that strives to alleviate poverty-stricken children in India.
The 27-year-old Khade has targeted a sum of Rs. 25 lakh for Magic Bus. “Every kayaking trip is a unique experience for me and this one was especially closer to my heart, as it was for a greater cause. I am honoured to be part of Magic Bus’ mission of moving children from poverty,” he said after completing the expedition in Goa.
Khade is trained by 12-time twelve-time world champion in Surfski racing, Oscar Chalupsky. His first major success happened during the 2012 National Dragon Boat Racing. Thereafter he took part in the Asian Dragon Boat Championships and won two silvers and one bronze medal.
Pratik Kumar, also an alumnus of Delhi IIT and CEO, Magic Bus, said: “We are extremely delighted to have Kaustubh take this challenge in support of the lakhs of children whose lives we are part of. Together, we are hopeful of creating a new generation of economically independent and socially aware citizens who are fully equipped to participate in shaping their country’s future. We thank Kaustubh for being a crucial part of our mission and congratulate him from Magic Bus team!”
