Junior squash: Vikas beats Yash

Vikas Mehra hogged the limelight, defeating higher seed Yash Bhargava of Delhi 10—12, 12—10, 11—7, 11—7 while the Indian boys and girls lived up to the expectations of progressing to the quarterfinal stage of the fourth Indian Junior Open Squash Championship here on Tuesday.

Vikas displayed total control over his shots and his decision to be aggressive throughout the match helped him down a fighting Yash.

Other notable winners were Asian champion Anaka Alankamony and Aparajitha Balamurukan in Girls’ under—19 category and top seed Kush Kumar and Deepak Mishra (Boys’ under—19) and Ashita Bhengra, Sharmika Reddy and Neharika Balamurugan in under—15 girls’ section.
