Junior badminton tourney in Tenali

About 800 players from 28 States to take part in the event

The All India Sub Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament for under -13 and under-15 boys and girls will begin at the Municipal Stadium in Tenali on Friday.

About 600 entries were received for main draw to begin at Municipal Stadium and VSR and NVR College on December 2.

Secretary of AP Badminton Association Punnaiah Chowdary said that all top ranked BAI players are taking part in this Indian team selection tournament for sub juniors. About 800 players representing 28 states are participating in this tournament.

Guntur District Badminton Association president Rayapati Ranga Rao, secretary T.Sampath Kumar said that the Hova court material was being used in all six courts at the stadium.

Speaker of AP Assembly Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, Minister for Marketing Adinarayana Reddy will inaugurate the tourney on Friday evening. Tenali MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad who is also organising committee convener, said all facilities are being provided for the players, coaches and their families.

The Badminton Association of India has nominated Deswanidkar from Maharashtra as tourney referee assisted and M.S.N.Prasad, BAI Match Control. About 25 qualified umpires and Technical officials have been nominated.
