The annual all-India John Memorial volleyball tournament for men and women will be held at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium from July 9 to 15.
The men’s section, which offers a prize money of Rs.1,00,000 for the winner will be played on league-cum-knock-out format, the women’s event is to be played on league basis. The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs.60,000.
Cash awards of Rs.5,000 each are to be given to the best player in each position.
IOB and Southern Railway are defending champions for men and women respectively.
The teams: Men: Indian Youth Team, IOB, Chennai Customs, Southern Railway, SDAT, Indian Juniors, Kerala Police, Income Tax, Tamil Nadu Police and Panimalar CE.
Women: Indian Juniors, Central Railway, Mumbai, KSEB, Southern Railway and Dr. Sivanthi Club.
