The third round of the 12th JK Tyre-FMSCI National Rotax karting championship will be held at the Kari Motor Speedway in Chettipalayam here this weekend.
The two-day event features 40 young karters from across the country battling it out in three categories — Micro Max (7-12 years), Junior Max (13-15) and senior Max (15 years and above).
These young drivers will race on karts that are run on new Evo Max engines, a new introduction this year to enhance driver performance. After two rounds, Agra’s Shahan Ali Mohsin (Team Meco Racing), Mumbai’s Mohammed Nallawalla (Team Rayo Racing) and Bangalore’s Ricky Doninson (Team BPC Racing) head the overall championship table in the micro, junior and senior categories respectively.
There is going to be a bit of international flavour to the Coimbatore round with three Sri Lankan karters in action in the junior and senior classes.
The six teams in fray are Rayo Racing (Mumbai), Meco Racing (Chennai), Mohite’s Racing (Kolhapur), BPC Racing (Bangalore), Erda Racing (Baroda) and Dark Don Racing (Chennai).
The qualifying and heats will be held on Saturday followed by the pre-final and final the next day.
