The International Olympic Committee (IOC), in collaboration with the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), has renewed its suggestion to the suspended Indian Olympic Association (IOA), for a joint meeting with the Union Sports Minister, before March 31, at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne.
“The main purpose of this meeting will be to agree on an action plan and a road map, with clear deadlines, to sort out all pending issues and to allow for free, fair, democratic and transparent elections within the IOA on the basis of a revised IOA Constitution and the Olympic Charter, without any outside interference,” stressed the letter, signed by Pere Miro, NOC Relations Director of IOC and Husain Al-Musallam, Director General of OCA.
Addressed to the suspended Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra and secretary-general Randhir Singh, the letter clarified that an official invitation to the Sports Minister would be extended by the IOC once the date was confirmed in consultation with him.
Apart from the president and secretary-general of the suspended IOA, a few of the Executive Members would also attend the meeting, subject to their names being cleared by the IOC in advance.
“It is indeed the intention of the IOC and OCA to resolve all pending issues as soon as possible, together with the Sports Minister and the suspended IOA,” reiterated the letter.
A copy of the letter was also addressed to the IOC president Jacques Rogge and the OCA president, Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah.
