The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has suggested a set of dates in April for a meeting with the Indian delegates at its headquarters in Lausanne.
In a joint letter to the acting president and secretary-general of the suspended Indian Olympic Association (IOA), the IOC’s Director Pere Miro and Olympic Council of Asia’s (OCA) Director General Husain Al-Musallam, have suggested April 11, 12, 13 or 16, for the meeting.
The IOA has been requested to coordinate with the Sports Ministry and confirm a suitable date by the end of this week. Originally, the IOC had sought a meeting before the end of March.
Thanking the IOA for attempting to reach a consensus with the Sports Ministry prior to the joint meeting, the IOC expressed optimism about finding a solution.
“With the cooperation of all parties concerned, a reasonable agreement and roadmap can be drafted to resolve the situation,” the letter stated.
A warning was also sounded not to involve any “illegitimate” individuals who may claim to be representing the IOA, as the IOC had declared the election of the national Olympic Committee null and void.
