IOA hails Indian performance

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) hailed the performance of the Indian athletes in the Olympics, and termed the collection of two silver and four bronze medals as ‘path breaking’.

The acting president of the IOA, Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, said the sportspersons had done India proud with the best ever haul. He said the performance would improve the profile of Indian sports. He was particularly happy with the number of medals matching the performance of India in the last four Olympics from Atlanta to Beijing, when it collected a gold, a silver and four bronze medals.

“Wrestler Sushil Kumar rewrote history as he became the only Indian to win two individual medals in successive Olympics,” he said, and praised bronze medallist Yogeshwar Dutt as well.
