Indian women triumph

India won the women’s team title in the sixth World carrom championships held in Colombo according to information reaching here on Friday.

India topped the five-team group with eight points. Host Sri Lanka came second with six points and Maldivies was third with four.

In the men’s section, India stormed into the semifinals, thrashing Maldivies 3-0 in the quarterfinals.

Sri Lanka drubbed Germany 3-0, while Canada and Bangladesh completed the line-up scoring identical 2-1 wins over Italy and USA respectively.
