The Indian women’s archery team suffered a heart-breaking 210-211 defeat at the hands of Denmark in the pre-quarterfinals on Sunday. The Indian women were expected to dish out a better fare and tackle the top-seeded Korea in the quarterfinals. However, two shots of 6 ruined the team’s chances as world No.1 Deepika Kumari too failed to fire.

“We wanted eights, but my partner hit the sixes, that gave us a big problem,” said Bombayla Devi.Chekrovolu Swuro did recover to shoot good in the end, but it was late.“I shot two sixes but I also shot 10s. The wind was a problem pushing the arrows off target,” said Chekrovolu. The Indians were behind by six points after 15 arrows and could not improve with their last three arrows after cutting down the lead to one point.
