Indian team started on a winning note in both the men's and women's sections in the Asian team squash championship being held in Kuwait. The men beat Singapore 3-0 and the women's team defeated China by identical margin.

The men's team comprising Saurav Ghosal (World No. 25), Siddharth Suchde (World No. 45), Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu (World No. 92) and Mahesh Mangaonkar (World No. 144) have been given top billing ahead of Malaysia, Hong Kong and Pakistan.  

India's best performance (silver medal) in the men's team championship came in the inaugural championship held in 1981. 

The women's team comprises Dipika Pallikal (World No. 14), Joshna Chinappa (World No. 53), Anaka Alankamony (World No. 94) and Aparajitha Balamurukan (World No. 92). The team has been seeded third behind Hong Kong and Malaysia. India's best in the women's section is also a silver at the championship held in 2010 in Chennai.

Women: India bt China 3-0 (Anaka Alankmony bt Xiu Chen 11-6, 11-4, 11-4; Dipika Pallikal bt Li Dong Jin 11-3, 11-6, 11-4; Joshna Chinappa bt Gu Jin Yue 11-3, 11-4, 11-5).
