Vikas Gowda and Siddhant Thingalaya have strengthened the Indian team for the Asian athletics championships to be held in Pune from July 4 to 7.
Though the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) had announced that only the top three from the recent inter-State championship in
Chennai would be considered for selection, it made exceptions for the top athletes, particularly Thingalaya who was unlucky to miss selection for the high hurdles for the London Games.
The presence of discus thrower Gowda, along with other Olympians Krishna Poonia and Tintu Luka, should enhance India’s aspirations to have the best haul in the meet. he AFI also announced a list of 30-odd coaches to prepare the team in the best possible fashion.
