Indian senior women’s volleyball team qualify for final round

The Indian senior women’s volleyball team entered the final round of the Asian zonal qualification tournament, to be held in Japan from September 4 to 8. The qualifier makes it to the World championship 2014.

The passage to the final round came after India defeated Uzbekistan 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-23) in the preliminary phase which concluded in Thailand on Wednesday.

According to information reaching here, Minimol performed very well as universal while Sowmya shone in the attack. Terin distributed the passes well, while Poornima and Tiji Raju were excellent in blocking. The head coach Meena Mahalingam summed up, “I am happy at this good result and I am sure the team will qualify for the world championship.”
