Indian full bore team entered for CWG

The Indian full bore shooting team has been shortlisted for the Commonwealth Games, after a lot of deliberation.

Though Praveen Dahiya and Amit Khanna had represented the country in the Queen's prize competition of the Commonwealth Championship in April at the CRPF range in Kadarpur, it was decided to keep the national championship performance as the base score for the six shooters, and back it with their performances in the 300-metre event of the Commonwealth championship in which all the six Indian shooters had competed.

Thus, Sushil Ghalay, Praveen Dahiya, Pradeep Kumar and Amit Khanna were listed in that order of merit. Two will be fielded for the Commonwealth Games, while the other two will be kept as stand-by.

The full bore range has been readied with the electronic scoring system in place for the targets ranging from 300 to 1000 yards. There will be a training camp for the Indian shooters from September 20, though the HPS rifles from England are expected to arrive only on Sept. 23.

The foreign shooters will start arriving from Sept. 23, to prepare for the Games on Oct. 3.
