Indian compound archers hit a new low in the 45th World archery championship at Ulsan (South Korea) on Wednesday. Both the men’s and women’s teams failed to qualify for the knockout stage.
Men’s National champion Chinna Raju Srither’s best of 1359 points over four-distances FITA round of 90m, 70m, 50m, 30m qualification earned him a lowly 48th place.
His teammates Chungda Sherpa ended 58th with 1356 and Khuraijam Ratan Singh 93rd with 1332 in a field of 111. India’s total of 4047 points got it the 21st place out of 29 teams.
Only the top 16 make it to the championship round.
All the three men will be competing in the championship round in the individual event.
In the women’s section, Jhano Hansdah scored 1325 points to occupy the 51st spot.
Manjudha Soy’s 1313 got her the 62nd place and youngest Indian Sarikonda Jayalakshmi was placed 83rd in the qualifier with a total of 1253.

Finishes last
Indian women with 3891 points ended up last in a field of 21 teams. However, all three are in the fray in the individual event.
