India stuns Japan in volleyball

Indian men beat fancied Japan 3-2 while the women put aside Maldives 3-0 in the volleyball competition at the Asian Games here on Friday.

The men, ranked 38th, played their best match of the tournament against World No. 14 Japan and won 25-20, 25-19, 21-25, 26-28, 15-13 in a group F match.

Earlier, the women outclassed the Maldives with a 25-6, 25-7, 25-6 in a Group A preliminary match at the Guangwai Gymnasium.

India plays Qatar in the men's event, while the women take on Japan on Saturday.
