India A wins three titles

India A clinched the junior boys, cadet boys, cadet girls titles at the Reliance India Open junior & cadet table tennis championship here on Thursday.

China, however, prevented the host from completing a clean sweep by taking the junior girls’ title.

Junior boys: India A bt India E 3-0 (Sudhanshu Grover bt Chinmay Datar 11-9, 11-8, 11-6; Abhishek Yadav bt Sanish Ambekar 11-4, 11-5, 11-7; Grover & Yadav bt Ambekar & Datar 11-5, 12-10, 11-8. Semifinals: India A bt India C 3-0; India E bt India B 3-1.

Junior girls: China bt India A 3-1 (Anqi Li lost to Manika Batra 5-11, 5-11, 11-6, 5-11; Yang Yanmei bt Suthirtha Mukherjee 11-3, 11-3, 11-8; Anqi & Yang bt Suthirtha & Manika 11-6, 11-4, 11-8; Yang bt Manika 8-11, 11-13, 12-10, 11-3, 11-5. Semifinals: China bt China-India 3-0, India A bt India B 3-0.

Cadet boys: India A bt India C 3-1 (Boro Birdie lost to Lalhunhlua 4-11, 7-11, 8-11; Anirban Ghosh bt Lalrinpuia 11-9, 11-8, 11-5; Birdie & Ghosh bt Lalhunhlua & Lalrinpuia 11-8, 11-6, 11-6; Ghosh bt Lalhunhlua 11-5, 11-5, 10-12, 11-8. Semifinals: India A bt China 3-1; India C bt India B 3-1.

Cadet girls: India A bt India B 3-1 (C.
