Indian sailors well placed

Indian sailors Varsha Gautham and Aishwarya Nedunchezhiyan occupied the fourth spot with two races to go in the 29er women’s two person dinghy event, which helped them stay in contention for a medal on Saturday.

Varsha and Aishwarya finished third and fourth in the ninth and 10th races respectively, to be placed fourth with two races to go.

The Indian pair was second after the ninth race on Saturday but fell back to fourth after the 10th race.

Meanwhile, 12-year-old Chitresh Tatha was in the fifth place with two races to go in the men’s optimist one person dinghy event. His woman counterpart Ramya Saravanan was sixth after the 10 race in an eight-member field in the women’s optimist one person dinghy.
