I won’t make an emotional decision: Bindra

After creating a flutter by threatening to quit shooting, Abhinav Bindra on Saturday said he will not make an “emotional decision” and will decide future course of action after giving it a good thought.

“I haven’t decided. I don’t want to make emotional decisions. I would be leaving for Germany within a couple of days and will discuss the matter with my trusted professionals,” Bindra said in a select media interaction at his family’s farmhouse at Zirakpur, nearly 25 km from here.

Commenting on his grievances against the National Rifles Association of India, he said it was he who is the loser in the end.

“Who is getting affected in the end, it is not the federation or anybody else, but me,” said Bindra, India’s first and only individual Olympic gold medalist.

About the controversy surrounding the selection trials, Bindra said the turn of events has left him disgusted.

“I am not asking for anything. What am I asking for. I came for the trials in December, but there were no trials held then. This is the way things have carried on in the past, change of schedules in trials is a routine,” he said.

“Are we preparing to do well nationally or internationally? It is for the policy makers to decide what they want. Whether they want us to do well for the country or whether they want us to follow certain selection trials,” he said.
