Hurdler suspended

March 08, 2012 02:37 am | Updated 02:37 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Tamil Nadu hurdler M. Thavaraj was handed out a two-year suspension on Wednesday for an anti-doping rule violation he committed nearly two years ago. The suspension will run from the date of the decision.

The 110m hurdles champion at the National youth championships in Coimbatore in April 2010, was reported for a doping offence involving steroid nandrolone. He was asked to appear for a hearing before the National Anti-Doping Disciplinary panel in September that year but did not turn up.

Though there was no provisional suspension, Thavaraj apparently had not been able to compete since being reported for a doping offence.
