Haikou World Open: Advani advances, Mehta exits

National champion Pankaj Advani defeated China’s Xiao Guodong in the first round of the Haikou World Open snooker tournament in China, according to a press release from the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI).

Advani prevailed in the deciding frame with a break of 80. The scoreline was 7-78, 72-44, 61-24, 43-66, 0-70, 67-51, 19-83, 15-85, 119-0.

Advani will face the 26-year-old Chinese sensation Ding Junhui in the round-of-32.

Aditya Mehta, however, went down to Welsh cueist Michael White 77-9, 7-78, 70-23, 49-74, 8-65, 67-69, 91-0, 29-60 in a first-round encounter.
