Gurpreet finishes seventh

Gurpreet Singh shot 578 and finished seventh, as he missed the final by one point in the 25-metre rapid fire pistol event in the shooting World Cup in Belgrade on Saturday.

The other two members of the Indian team, Pemba Tamang and Vijay Kumar also shot well, with identical scores of 574, and were placed 14th and 16th respectively in a field of 51.

The results: Men: 25m rapid fire pistol: 1. Fabrice Daumal (Fra) 777.2 (582); 2. Christian Reitz (Ger) 774.8 (582); 3. Josef Fiala 770.2 (579); 7. Gurpreet Singh 578; 14. Pemba Tamang 574; 16. Vijay Kumar 574.

Women: 50m rifle 3-position: 1. Olga Dovgun (Kaz) 683.8 (589); 2. Dong Lijie (Chn) 683.6 (583); 3. Snjezana Pejcic (Cro) 683.2 (585); 49. Raj Kumari 571; 51. Tejaswini Sawant 570; 61. Meena Kumari 567.
