Govindraj group gets FIBA approval

April 02, 2015 04:27 am | Updated 04:27 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has recognised K. Govindraj as the president and Chander Mukhi Sharma as secretary-general of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI).

On its official website FIBA.com , the international body has listed the names of the Indian federation in terms of prominent office-bearers and communication details.

It may be noted that the FIBA Asia representative, Mageshwaran Saba, had attended the Annual General Meeting of the BFI held in Bengaluru on March 27 as well as in Pune on March 28.

Meanwhile, the matter is also being heard by the Delhi High Court, which in its preliminary observation pointed out that the president had the authority to decide the time and venue of the election as per the BFI Constitution. The matter will be heard next on July 22.

The Govindraj group has also changed the ‘authorised signatories’ of the BFI bank account and has initiated the process to take over the BFI office in Delhi.

The amended Constitution has also been sent to the Registrar of Societies for ratification.
