Bengal will host the Golster National billiards and snooker championships at the Bengal Rowing Club from January 3.
The West Bengal Billiards Association (WBBA) announced the dates and details of the 22-day championships which will have competitions in 12 categories for men, women, boys and girls in senior, junior and sub-junior sections.
More than 700 cueists from all affiliated units of the Billiards & Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) will participate.
Sourav Kothari and Pankaj Advani will defend their titles in the men’s billiards and snooker respectively. R. Umadevi (billiards) and Vidya Pillai (snooker) of Karnataka will defend the women’s crowns.
The WBBA also felicitated Kothari for winning his maiden Asian and National billiards titles. The president of the association, Pradeep Saraogi, presented Kothari with a silver salver and Rs. 1 lakh for achieving the twin feat.
