Gold for Shivam

Shivam Saini won the 85-kg youth boys' gold with a total lift of 243 kg in the Commonwealth weightlifting championship in Apia, Samoa, on Friday.

The Indian squad added two gold, a silver and a bronze to its rich collection of medals on the third day of the championship.

The medallists:

Men: 94 kg:Silver: Chandrakant D. Mali (snatch 140 kg, clean and jerk 189 kg; total 329 kg).

Junior men: 94 kg: Bronze: M.R. Chaitanya (124, 147; 271).

Youth boys: 84 kg: Gold: Shivam Saini (111, 132, 243); 94 kg: Gold: Deepak (107, 120; 227).
