Sports Minister M.S. Gill suggested the regular conduct of big bore shooting competition among the para military forces, police forces and army, while inaugurating the full bore shooting range at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) campus in Kadarpur, Gurgaon, on Monday.

The minister said the world class range, built at a cost of nearly Rs. 28 crore and the first of its kind in the country, would be used to conduct national championships apart from international events, and for training police personnel and national shooters.

The venue has already successfully hosted the Commonwealth championship, which witnessed the use of electronic targets at 300, 500, 600, 900 and 1000 yards for the first time ever in the international arena.

The range that meets all safety norms also has sports pistol and rifle ranges for the 25-metre and 50-metre events. — Special Correspondent
