Gautam memorial badminton

Friends and fans of former India badminton ace Gautam Thakkar, the only Indian junior Asian champion, have come together to organise the Gautam Thakkar Memorial junior masters badminton tournament at the Bombay Gymkhana from December 10 to 13.

The event, total prizemoney Rs. 10 lakh, will see participation of the nation's leading junior boys and girls, according to organising secretary and ex-India international Uday Pawar.

Participants include Rohit Yadav, Pratul Joshi, Gauri Ghate, Aditya Joshi, Tanvi Lad, Ruthvika Shivani (Asian youth badminton silver medallist), Aditya Joshi and Harshil Dani (Russian junior International silver medallist) to name a few.

Matches will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis, with the top 12 singles players and top six doubles pairs (boys and girls) in the under-17 and under-19 age groups, as per the National rankings, vying for top honours.
